چکیده
Purpose This study aims to examine the symmetric and asymmetric impact of external debt on inflation in Sudan from 1970 2020 within a multivariate framework by including money supply nominal effective exchange rate as additional determinants. Design/methodology/approach The authors utilize an Auto Regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model inflation, while is examined using Nonlinear ARDL (NARDL) model. existence long-run relationship between tested bounds-testing approach cointegration, vector error-correction estimated determine short parameters equilibrium dynamics. Findings linear results show that has no statistically significant long run. On contrary, NARDL positive negative shocks affect elasticity coefficients nonlinear models reveal domestic inflation. In contrast, Practical implications reliance analysis may not be sufficient uncover linkage Proper management crucial control rates Sudan. Originality/value To date, empirical assessed debt-inflation nexus its potential asymmetry Sudan, current fill this gap literature.

Deficits, Debt Financing, Monetary Policy and Inflation in Developing Countries: Internal or External Factors? Evidence from Iran
This paper focuses on internal and external factors, which influence the inflation rate in developing countries. A monetary model of inflation rate, capable of incorporating both monetary and fiscal policies as well as other internal and external factors, was developed and tested on Iranian data. It was found that, over the long run, a higher exchange rate leads to a higher price and that the f...
متن کاملAsymmetric Behavior of Inflation in Iran: New Evidence on Inflation Persistence Using a Smooth Transition Model
T his paper investigates the asymmetric behavior of inflation. We use logistic smooth transition autoregressive (LSTAR) model to characterize the regime-switching behavior of Iran’s monthly inflation during the period May 1990 to December 2013. We find that there is a triple relationship between the inflation level, its fluctuations and persistence. The findings imply that the behavi...

Inflation and Economic Growth Nexus in Brics: Evidence from Ardl Bound Testing Approach
The present study investigated the inflation growth nexus in the context of BRICS countries. The study used time series data covering from the period 1980 to 2012. The data sources are cumulated from the World Bank, World Economic Outlook (WEO). The empirical findings of the study indicate that a long run positive relationship between inflation and economic growth only for China and South Afric...
متن کاملDoes Caution Cause Aversion to Trading? Evidence from Repeated Markets with Symmetric and Asymmetric Information∗
This paper reports an experiment in which subjects buy and sell lotteries in repeated markets under symmetric and asymmetric information. In the markets with asymmetric information a minority of the subjects, the informed, were given extra information about the lottery’s payout, so had an informational advantage over the majority, the uninformed. In the markets with symmetric information none o...
